Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m the lady behind The Twine! Food is a passion of mine, and I love cooking for my friends and family. I believe that sharing good food with each other is a priceless way to forge relationships, learn about and explore the world around us, and get our creative juices flowing.
Over thousands of years, humans’ fondness of certain foods has evolved in fascinating ways. Cultures, politics, history, economics, geography, and the sciences have all been deeply intertwined with our culinary tastes on some level. Food and cooking are so deeply ingrained in our lives, and my goal is to highlight the impressive ways in which cuisine ties different people, cultures, environments, and time periods together.
My food philosophy is relatively simple. I buy fresh, local, and organic ingredients when I can. Although I love a juicy steak every so often, I try not to rely on animal products as my main protein source. (However, I happen to be mildly allergic to soy, so don’t expect to see oodles of tofu recipes!)
A few other tidbits about me:
- I was born and raised in Florida.
- I consider cheese to be the meaning of life.
- Collecting feathers is hobby of mine.
- There is a soft spot in my heart for cats, chili cheese fries, and mimosas.
- This blog began as part of my Master’s project in 2015.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
-Ashley
